Russian Folk Dance Group Kalinka

“Kalinka” is actually a Russian song written in 1860 by the composer and folklorist Ivan Larionov and first performed in Saratov as part of a theatrical entertainment that he had composed. Soon it was added to the repertory of a folk choral group.

KALINKA – Russian Folk Dance Group comprised of adult males and females that hold their Russian Heritage, Culture and Traditions near and dear to their hearts. The group is driven and directed by Choreographer and Head Dance Instructor, Sergey Malkoand Director Taissia Suvorova who is also one of the main participants of the folk dance group.

Sergey works with his group creating dances to Slavic songs and each tells a different story. Combined with incredibly colorful, beautiful and traditional costumes. Group is open to anyone interested in joining. Kalinka takes their dances on the road. They perform at show performances, benefits, and cultural events ranging from Monterey up to Reno, Nevada.
